I have suffered with agoraphobia most of my life. It has robbed me of many of lifes experiences and opportunities. I am better now, I struggle with driving, but am able to be out around people. I wanted to try and do a painting of agoraphobia.
This is my feeble attempt. Oh, and for those of you who dont know what agoraphobia is, it is the fear of going outside.
It's interesting because the entire scene plays out 'indoors' and still fails to give any idea of the outside world. The obvious are used: Creatures of flight in a cage (which can get cliche), and what seems like centuries old dress as though you (or the figure) are a part of a play.
Your painting style is very whimsical and soft - as though you could put out a handful of similar works with ease.

Well I'm glad that you're able to get around now a bit, but I do know the feeling somewhat. I don't think I've suffered from it all my life but because of certain life experiences, I just don't like to go out anymore. But I do occassionally for dinner or to go shopping
I love your conception! You paint very well (I'm jealous!)

I am happy to hear that you are still able to go out!! There was a time, about 20 years ago, when I was totally house bound. It was a dark time in my life. I would get frightened if I looked out the window!!
I am so grateful that I am well now. That period of my life seems like a nightmare!
Only for fun things but still. Not like I'm afraid of the world, just afraid of what the world thinks of me...it's odd I'm glad you're better! Most welcome!

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
