Hey there, I like this painting. It could have been made stronger if she were positioned more to the right or you just cropped off part of it. All in all good job though.

Awesome!

It's the sublimity of her expression that leads me to believe that she is on the way to elevation, and thus saving herself

Thankyou for your input. I am a bit confused with your critique however. How would kicking the painting to the right make it stronger? Off center sometimes works for me, but not this piece.... need explanation.

Thankyou. This painting was done months ago, I simply took the glare out for a better print.

Its because you have her head turned slightly to the left and her shoulders sloping down to the right. For a central piece you would want everything more level and then the overall effect is like a pyramid. The equal width of the black negative space on both sides is making my mind feel slightly awkward towards the piece and I'm still inclined to look where my eyes want her head to be, which is more to the right of her face. Also, there is a kind of rhythmic spiral to the painting starting at her chest then traveling through the neck to the middle figure and then the top left figure. If we move her rightwards and then add in more of her arm and right breast, the whole piece flows very organically. I'm looking at it like this right now in Photoshop (hope you don't mind me playing around with it), and it makes it look better. The different expressions on the character's are now popping a bit more as well.

Have I made any sense? :) Again I like the painting and would not have commented on it if I didn't.

How fascinating! Sounds like you have extensive art training. That is one of my downfalls... no schooling at all. I get thru a painting by the seat of my pants. I will give great thought to my upcoming paintings and consider everything you have said.

Thankyou so very very much!
